Using Psychrometric Calculator

This demonstrates how to obtain dew point temperature by using a psychrometric calculator. It will
also give you a relative humidity reading. You can also use a psychrometric chart and certain computer
programs to determine the dew point. Psychrometric calculators (and psychrometric charts) are not
universal. You must use the instrument intended for your average pressure level.
The observer must use a psychrometer to obtain Wet bulb and Dry bulb
(ambient air) temperatures.
The wet-bulb temperature is subtracted from the dry-bulb temperature to
determine the depression. This information is used to determine the Dew Point or Relative
Humidity. Subtract the wet-bulb reading from the dry-bulb reading to find the
difference.
This information will be used with the Psychrometric calculator to determine
relative humidity. If you have a dew point table (psychrometric table) you can use it along with the wet
bulb and dry bulb to find the dew point.
